The History of the Parowan Gap Petroglyphs
The Parowan Gap Petroglyphs were created by a people called the Parowan Fremont. They lived in many small villages scattered throughout the area. They cultivated Indian corn, harvested pine nuts, and hunted small fowl or mule deer, depending on the exact location of the village. They also took great interest in studying the stars, planets and seasonal cycles.During annual migrations, they used the
Parowan Gap as a way to pass through the Red Hills. It was probably during these journeys that the glyphs were made.
