With livestock as one of the festival's focuses, you can certainly expect a lot of animal-centric events. On Thursday, the weekend kicks off with a stock dog trial. Competitors from several states have entered their farm dogs into the competition to see who can herd sheep most efficiently. Head to the Cross Hollow Event Center on Friday to meet several of the horses before the Draft Horse Teamster Contest begins. Don't miss Saturday's big event'"the Sheep Parade! Beginning at 10 a.m., the parade leads more than 1,000 sheep down Main Street along with vintage automobiles, sheep wagons, and antique tractors. Designed just for kids, the Junior Ranch Rodeo allows children to put their farm skills to the test while competing in categories like team roping, goat milking, and branding.
